Terms of Use
Effective Date: 15 April 2026 | Version 1.1
1. Acceptance and Eligibility
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the AGSOSA digital platform ("the Platform"). By submitting a membership application, activating an account, or using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms, the Privacy Policy, and the Community Rules.
The Platform is available to individuals who are alumni of Ajara Grammar School, Ajara-Vetho, Lagos State, Nigeria, or who can demonstrate a legitimate connection to the school. All applicants must submit truthful information and undergo the Association's verification process.
The Platform operates an application-first, invitation-based membership model. Submitting an application does not create a member account. Account creation occurs only after the Association approves your application and you redeem a personal invitation, which includes setting a password and completing mandatory multi-factor authentication (MFA) setup.
The Association reserves the right to refuse or revoke access to anyone who does not meet eligibility requirements or who provides false or misleading information.
2. Application and Activation Process
Membership on the Platform follows this process:
1. You submit a membership application through the public application form, providing the required identity, contact, and verification information.
2. The Association reviews your application internally. During review, your application may be approved, rejected, or returned for additional information.
3. If approved, you receive a personal invitation email containing a secure, time-limited activation link.
4. You activate your account by redeeming the invitation, setting a password, and completing TOTP-based MFA enrolment.
5. You review and execute the Membership Agreement, which incorporates the Privacy Policy, Terms of Use, Community Rules, Data Rights notice, and Cookie Policy. An immutable execution record is created and you receive a copy.
6. After successful activation, you complete an onboarding process to confirm your profile and privacy settings.
7. You then have access to the member dashboard and Platform features.
Invitations are personal and must not be shared, forwarded, or transferred. Each invitation is single-use and expires after seven days. Expired or revoked invitations cannot be used; contact the Association to request a new invitation if needed.
3. Account Responsibility
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials, including your password and MFA device, and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must use a valid email address that you control. You must not share your login credentials or MFA codes with any other person. You must notify the Association immediately if you become aware of any unauthorised use of your account. The Association is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to safeguard your account credentials.
4. Accuracy of Information
You represent and warrant that all information you submit through the Platform — including during application, activation, and profile management — is accurate, complete, and not misleading to the best of your knowledge. You agree to update your information promptly if it changes. Providing false identity information, fabricating alumni credentials, or misrepresenting your connection to Ajara Grammar School constitutes a serious violation of these Terms and may result in immediate rejection of your application, revocation of your invitation, or termination of your account and membership.
5. Alumni Verification
All applicants must undergo a verification process before being granted membership. This process may include review of submitted identity information, comparison against the Association's alumni roster records, assessment of supporting evidence or context provided by the applicant, and review by authorised administrators.
The Association reserves sole discretion in determining whether an applicant meets verification requirements. Verification decisions are communicated through the applicant's registered email address. Applicants whose applications are not approved may submit additional information or re-apply after a previous application has been rejected or administratively closed.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the Platform only for its intended purposes: connecting with fellow alumni, participating in Association activities, accessing Association resources, and engaging with the alumni community. You agree to comply with the Community Rules at all times.
You must not use the Platform to harass, intimidate, or threaten any person; to distribute spam, unsolicited commercial messages, or advertisements without authorisation; to collect, harvest, or scrape member data from the directory or any other part of the Platform; to impersonate any person or misrepresent your identity or affiliation; to upload malicious software, viruses, or harmful code; to attempt to gain unauthorised access to other accounts or Platform systems; or to engage in any activity that violates applicable laws or regulations.
7. Member-Generated Content
Any content you submit to the Platform — including profile information, biographical text, photographs, forum posts, messages, and comments — must comply with these Terms and the Community Rules. You retain ownership of content you submit but grant the Association a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use, display, and distribute such content within the Platform for Association purposes. The Association may remove or modify any content that violates these Terms or the Community Rules, without prior notice.
8. Directory and Profile Use Restrictions
The alumni directory and member profiles are provided exclusively for legitimate alumni networking and Association purposes. You must not use directory data for commercial solicitation, marketing, recruitment, or any purpose unrelated to alumni engagement without explicit authorisation from the Association. You must not download, copy, or export bulk member data from the directory. You must not share directory information with non-members or third parties. Violation of these restrictions may result in immediate account suspension.
9. Membership Validity and Recertification
The Association may establish membership validity cycles that require periodic recertification. Members assigned to a validity cycle must complete recertification before the cycle's expiration to maintain current standing. Failure to recertify within the applicable grace period may result in a lapsed or expired standing, which may restrict access to certain Platform features including the digital membership card. The Association will provide reasonable notice of recertification requirements through the Platform and, where email delivery is configured, by email.
10. Platform Administration
The Association reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature of the Platform at any time, with or without notice. The Association may perform maintenance, updates, or changes that temporarily affect Platform availability. The Association is not liable for any interruption in service.
11. Suspension and Termination
The Association may suspend or terminate your account and membership if you violate these Terms, the Community Rules, or the Privacy Policy; if you provide false or misleading information during application or at any time; if you engage in conduct that is detrimental to the Association or its members; if you fail to complete the activation process within a reasonable time after receiving an invitation; or for any other reason the Association deems necessary for the protection of the community.
Upon termination, your access to the Platform will be revoked. Certain data may be retained in accordance with the Privacy Policy and Data Rights notice.
12. Disclaimers
The Platform is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. The Association makes no warranties, express or implied, regarding the Platform's availability, accuracy, reliability, or fitness for any particular purpose. The Association does not guarantee that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. The Association does not endorse, verify, or guarantee the accuracy of any information submitted by members, except to the extent of the verification process described in Section 5.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Association, its officers, committee members, administrators, and volunteers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, revenue, or reputation, arising from or related to your use of the Platform.
14. Governance and Community Expectations
As a member of AGSOSA, you are expected to uphold the values of the Association, including loyalty, service, mutual respect, and community responsibility. You agree to participate constructively in Association activities and to support the Association's mission of alumni engagement and school advancement.
15. Changes to These Terms
The Association may update these Terms from time to time. Each version will carry a version number and effective date. Material changes will be communicated to members through the Platform. Your continued use of the Platform after notification constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
16. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or your use of the Platform shall be resolved through the Association's internal dispute resolution mechanisms in the first instance, and thereafter through the courts of competent jurisdiction in Lagos State, Nigeria.
